Is Your Online Store Ready for Sale-Season Traffic? A 12-Point Check
11.11, Black Friday and year-end sales bring your biggest traffic of the year. Here's a 12-point technical check for Shopify and WooCommerce stores before the rush.

In short:
- Test your whole buying journey on a mid-range Android phone over mobile data.
- Fix checkout friction, COD confirmation and delivery messaging before the sale, not during it.
- Freeze big website changes a week before the sale.
Every year, some stores spend heavily on ads for 11.11 and Black Friday, then lose sales to a slow page, a broken discount code or a confusing checkout. You can avoid most of it with a few hours of checks.
Speed and stability
- Test on a real phone. Use a mid-range Android on mobile data. Load your homepage, a sale collection, a product page and checkout. Anything over 3–4 seconds needs attention.
- Remove apps and plugins you don’t need. Each one adds scripts that slow pages down.
- Compress sale banners. Big promotional images are the usual culprit. Use WebP and the right size for mobile.
- Check your hosting (for WooCommerce). Ask your host whether your plan can handle several times your normal traffic.
Checkout and payments
- Place a real test order with each payment method: COD, card, bank transfer, JazzCash or Easypaisa.
- Test every discount code, including what happens when codes stack or expire.
- Reduce checkout fields to what you need. City and phone number matter for Pakistani delivery. Other fields may not.
- Add COD order confirmation by WhatsApp or SMS. It cuts fake orders and refusals, which spike during sales.
Messaging and tracking
- Show delivery times clearly on product pages and at checkout, including sale-period delays.
- Check stock levels so you don’t sell products you can’t deliver.
- Verify tracking. Make a test purchase and confirm it appears in Meta Events Manager, Google Ads and GA4. Broken tracking during a sale means ad algorithms optimise blind.
- Freeze changes. No theme updates or new apps in the week before the sale.
After the sale
Look at where people dropped off: product page, cart or checkout. That tells you what to fix before the next big moment, which for many Pakistani stores is year-end and then Ramadan.
